FORUM ONE – Martin Luther King – Thursday, Jan 31, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Words have the power to build or destroy. At a time when rhetoric can lead to violence, oppression, even war, we need to hear from leaders who illuminated the way to peace and human flourishing. Join us for a discussion of Letter from Birmingham Jail, written to address criticism of the civil rights movement from white clergy.
FORUM TWO – Nelson Mandela – Thursday, Feb 21, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The end of apartheid was inevitable. The peaceful transition to a nonracial democracy was not. It was Nelson Mandela’s extraordinary leadership qualities that made the seemingly impossible happen. What were those qualities? What sacrifices did Mandela make? And what can we learn from the life of perhaps the most universally beloved figures of the 20th century? Reading forthcoming.
All are welcome.
Location – 2 Butman St., Beverly, MA (yellow house)
